nanoSTAR Announces New Center Seed Program; Letter of Intent Due June 7

April 24, 2013

UVa’s nanoSTAR Institute is pleased to announce the UVa nanoSTAR Center Seed Program.  The Program requests proposals from teams of faculty seeking funds to provide the foundation for a new multidisciplinary center that pursues collaborative research and education focused on addressing a “Grand Challenge.”

Teams may focus on discovery or application of nanoscale science and engineering to address a particular societal need (i.e., sustainability), or to pursue a topic that could have broad societal impact (i.e., “beyond road-map” electronics). Teams of UVa faculty from across any Schools are eligible to apply for funding that will provide the team with time and resources needed to pursue external center-level/program-project-level funding.  Collaboration across School boundaries is strongly encouraged.
Support will include up to $200,000 in total value over a period of up to two years, contingent upon availability of funding.    Letters of Intent are due June 7, and full proposals are due August 15.  Please see the attached RFP for more information.
