Establishing Purdue as a national leader in nanoscale research, the Birck Nanotechnology Research Center has approximately 25,000-SF of cleanroom space, including a pharmaceutical-grade bio-cleanroom, the largest and cleanest at any US University. The lithography bay maintains less than two-tenths of a degree in temperature variation, with Class 1 particle control, a NIST-A vi-bration rating and low EMI levels. One pair of laboratories is set up for extreme vibration control, electromagnetic field (emf) shielding and temperature stability.
