Faculty, Postdocs, Graduate Students, and Undergraduate Researchers
Please save the date, Saturday, November 14, for the Third Annual Virginia Soft Matter Workshop at the University Virginia (UVA) in the auditorium of Nau Hall. The workshop is a one-day, all-day event that will bring together researchers working on the science of soft matter, such as polymers, complex fluids, and biomaterials, for an informal meeting to exchange ideas and foster collaborations. There will be a mix of invited talks, brief contributed sound bites, and unstructured time. The workshop is free for attendees, and UVA will provided breakfast and lunch for workshop participants. You can access the website for the workshop here:http://indico.phys.vt.edu/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=30<http://indico.phys.vt.edu/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=30>. Thus, please use it to register for the workshop! Registration closes on November 6.
Further, the website lists the meeting location, driving and parking information, and the titles and abstracts of the invited talks, along with the scientific program. I have also attached to this email a flyer for the workshop. I would appreciate your collective efforts to advertise the workshop by posting the flyer in your buildings and emailing the flyer to your colleagues and friends.
We encourage and invite all conference participants,i.e., professors, post-doctoral researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers, to present a sound bite on their research during the workshop. In order to do so, please indicate the title of your sound bite on the registration page (no abstract required for sound bites). A 3-4 slide PDF of your sound bite is due to email@example.com<mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org><mailto:email@example.com> by November 7th. More information on the format of the sound bite can be found on the FAQ page of the workshop website.
